If you have any questions,\u00a0please contact the CTE STARS Team at\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:CTESTARS@schools.nyc.gov\">CTESTARS@schools.nyc.gov<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/jrcnyc.org\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/JRC-Master-Menu-of-Services-FY18.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Complete menu of JRC services<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/jrcnycorg.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/09\/nycctelogo.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/jrcnycorg.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/09\/nycctelogo.png\" alt=\"NYCCTElogo\" width=\"352\" height=\"22\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/jrcnycorg.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/08\/nycdoelogo.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2078 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/jrcnycorg.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/08\/nycdoelogo.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"NYCDOElogo\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jrcnyc.org\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/nycdoelogo.jpg 600w, https:\/\/jrcnyc.org\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/nycdoelogo-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 85vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>From the NYCDOE website under\u00a0<strong><span id=\"yui_3_7_2_1_1375194090786_6980\">Career and Technical Education\u00a0(CTE)<\/span><\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><i id=\"yui_3_7_2_1_1375194090786_6984\">The process of program approval compels schools to demonstrate excellence on a series of quality indicators, including curriculum, work-based learning, culmination in an industry-recognized assessment, college and industry partnerships, and program capacity.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>This is a brief summary of the CTE program components leading to program approval.\u00a0 JRC is actively working on CTE program approval by following the components below:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0\u00a0<b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">JRC Law Programs<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><b id=\"yui_3_7_2_1_1375194090786_7041\"><span id=\"yui_3_7_2_1_1375194090786_7040\" style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">CTE Program Component #1:<\/span><span id=\"yui_3_7_2_1_1375194090786_7040\">\u00a0<\/span>Curriculum and Instruction<\/b>.<b>\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0All CTE programs must have a 3-4 year course sequence, offer a career and financial management course, align curriculum with NYS learning standards, common core and Career Development and Occupational Studies (CDOS).<\/p>\n<p><b id=\"yui_3_7_2_1_1375194090786_7039\"><span id=\"yui_3_7_2_1_1375194090786_7038\" style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">CTE Program Component #2<\/span><\/b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">:<\/span>\u00a0<b>Curriculum aligned with NYS Learning and industry skill standards that reflect 21st\u00a0century competencies.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b id=\"yui_3_7_2_1_1375194090786_7036\"><span id=\"yui_3_7_2_1_1375194090786_7035\" style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">CTE Program Component #3:<\/span><span id=\"yui_3_7_2_1_1375194090786_7035\">\u00a0<\/span><\/b><b>Qualified Career and Technical Education teachers with industry certification.<\/b>\u00a0All CTE programs must have Qualified Career and Technical Education teachers with relevant State and Industry certification.<\/p>\n<p><b id=\"yui_3_7_2_1_1375194090786_7032\"><span id=\"yui_3_7_2_1_1375194090786_7031\" style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">CTE Program Component #4:<\/span><span id=\"yui_3_7_2_1_1375194090786_7031\">\u00a0<\/span>Industry partnerships.<\/b>\u00a0All CTE programs must have business partners involved in program development to validate that program content is 1) aligned with industry standards and 2) is current on industry needs. \u00a0Participation includes curriculum review, technical assessment review, serving in an advisory role, providing work based learning opportunities, or providing other pro bono support (such as guest speakers, in-kind donations, etc.).<\/p>\n<p><b id=\"yui_3_7_2_1_1375194090786_7000\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">CTE Program Component #5:<\/span>\u00a0Post-Secondary Articulation Agreements.\u00a0<\/b>CTE programs are to partner with higher education organizations to enable students to take college credits during their high school studies.<\/p>\n<p><b id=\"yui_3_7_2_1_1375194090786_7022\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">CTE Program Component #6:<\/span>\u00a0Technical Assessments.\u00a0<\/b>All CTE schools should have an end of the program industry assessment that includes a written, student demonstration\/performance and student project which is accepted by industry.<\/p>\n<p><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">CTE Component #7:<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><b id=\"yui_3_7_2_1_1375194090786_7021\">Work Based Learning.\u00a0\u00a0<\/b>All CTE programs must establish a sequence of experiences enabling students to be successful in aligning their course work with future careers. Work-Based Learning includes a sequence of activities across all years of the Program, often culminating in a capstone experience such an internship or service project with an employer in the relevant industry.
