The winner of the 2022 NYS Mock Trial Competition is Hunter College High School!<\/p>\n
\u00a0NYC Hi<\/strong>gh School Mock Trial competition information:\u00a0<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n \u00a02023 Mock Trial Case<\/a><\/p>\n (Updated November 28, 2022)<\/b><\/p>\n For Lawyers and Judges:<\/em><\/p>\n CLE credit information<\/a><\/p>\n Program Description<\/strong><\/p>\n The Justice Resource Center (JRC),\u00a0in partnership with the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA), provides high school students the opportunity to participate in a citywide Mock Trial competition,\u00a0with the winning team moving to the state\u00a0finals. Teams of 8 or more students compete\u00a0at least twice in a multiple-elimination\u00a0round tournament. A team can be from a designated course, or an after school program.\u00a0Students compete across all five boroughs from February through May, and the top teams go on to the state finals in Albany. If you are new to Mock Trial, or are coaching students who are new to your team, you can download the NYSBA’s\u00a0Mock Trial 101 video for free.<\/p>\n Schools\u00a0are\u00a0assigned a lawyer-coach,\u00a0who works with the assigned teacher-coach from the school.\u00a0Teachers\u00a0are\u00a0afforded the opportunity to participate in a professional development and informational session\u00a0provided by the JRC. The\u00a0case,\u00a0written by the NYSBA\u2019s Law, Youth and Citizenship committee\u00a0is\u00a0provided to each school.\u00a0All rounds take place after school at various borough courthouses\u00a0with lawyers presiding as judges.\u00a0\u00a0The final round is held at the United States Federal Courthouse with a federal judge presiding. All\u00a0students are\u00a0invited to observe the final round of the competition, followed by an awards ceremony\u00a0and celebration for all participating students.<\/p>\n Teachers & Attorneys<\/strong>: Interested in coaching or judging Mock Trial?
