NYC was paired with Venezuela through a U.S. Department of Education grant that enabled us to work closely\u00a0 with teachers, lawyers and students to offer civics and law-related education programs to the school-age population. Through delegation visits of lawyers and teachers between\u00a0NYC and Venezuela, professional development sessions for teachers in Venezuela, and technical support with culminating events all over Venezuela, we emerged as a model program in Latin America.\u00a0 These programs are flourishing in Venezuela despite the political climate. The MENTOR program has been implemented in many schools in Caracas, bringing the rule of law concepts to students at various age levels.<\/p>\n<p>We are very proud of our work in Venezuela, which was recognized by\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.civicus.org\/\">CIVICUS<\/a>\u00a0and given the Nelson Mandela \u2013 Gra\u00e7a Machel Innovation Award for Social Justice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Justice Resource Center (JRC) has partnered with CIVITAS Venezuela for over a decade.
