High school students from underserved communities will be exposed to careers in the law through an internship with a Judge in state or federal courts throughout New York City, \u00a0as well as weekly seminars, including sessions on college preparation, essay writing, professional skills, legal research and writing, and exploring different legal career options.\u00a0The program will be held from\u00a0July 5, 2016 through July 29, 2016.\u00a0 To apply, please visit\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/scsjip.org\/hs_program.html\">http:\/\/scsjip.org\/hs_program.html<\/a>. The deadline to apply is\u00a0March 18, 2016.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><b><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">Program Description:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b>Over the course of four (4) weeks students will intern with state and federal judges in New York City.\u00a0 Throughout the four weeks, students will be exposed to the daily operations of the courtroom, and will work with the courtroom personnel, including the judge, law secretary or judicial assistant, law clerk, and court officer or deputy clerk.\u00a0 These activities may include assisting with clerical filings, research, drafting and\/or preparing documents.\u00a0 Students will also observe attorneys as they present their cases to the court. \u00a0All students are required to work a minimum of six hours a day for five days a week.<\/p>\n<p>Current 10th and 11th graders are eligible to apply.
