The team competed against Tottenville High School\u00a0in the Southern District of New York (SDNY) Ceremonial Courtroom on\u00a0April 18\u00a0with\u00a0SDNY federal judge Honorable\u00a0Torres\u00a0presiding. Several participating schools, attorneys and educators came to watch as finalists gave their arguments. Students\u00a0took on the roles of prosecutors, defense, and witnesses\u00a0in the case\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.jrcnyc.org\/wordpress\/?page_id=146\" target=\"_blank\"><em>The\u00a0People\u00a0v. Kelly Roberts<\/em><\/a>,\u00a0written by the\u00a0New York State Bar Association (NYSBA).\u00a0 Students were coached by their Law Academy teachers and MENTOR attorneys. Attorneys and federal judges volunteered to judge the rounds.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/jrcnycorg.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/05\/nysba-logo.png\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2031\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2031\" src=\"http:\/\/jrcnycorg.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/05\/nysba-logo.png\" alt=\"NYSBA logo\" width=\"494\" height=\"57\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The two finalist teams will compete at the NY State Mock Trial rounds in Albany, NY, from May 15-17th, 2016.
