December 4, 2014: The Puerto Rican Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute is offering the Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute Opportunity for High School Students . The application deadline is December 19, 2014. Your school is encouraged to connect students with the applications for the 2015 Angelo del Toro Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute (HYLI), found online here.
The institute begins on January 31 and is open to students from grades 10 to 12 of any Hispanic background. The program provides students with the opportunity to learn how a bill is passed in the State Assembly; it culminates in an all expenses paid weekend trip to Albany. Students also develop skills in writing and learn debating, as well as leadership skills.
Applicants must submit a 500-word essay on the topic described in the application.
